Of course, in the life of a busy high school student, each day is different. No two mornings and no two nights are the same. But most days, I begin my mornings with the same rituals and close my nights with the same habits, like many people. Here is my routine each morning and night*. Maybe you will even notice some similarities between my routines and yours.

Morning**

6:00: Ignore my first alarms and let myself continue sleeping.

6:20: Realize I have to get up now if I want to get to school on time and look presentable. Do a crossword on the New York Times mobile app to wake up my brain.

6:25: Head to the bathroom to brush my teeth, wash my face, and use the toilet.

6:35: Choose an outfit for the day and get dressed.

6:40: (Try to) do my hair (and get frustrated) and put on a bit of makeup.

6:50: Take my dog outside to use his toilet.

6:55: Make breakfast, probably hot cereal, and a cup of tea, probably earl grey. Eat and check my phone or read.

7:10: Grab my backpack and leave for school.

Night

My night routine begins at different times on different days, depending on my activities that day. If I have no activities, this is the general flow of my night.

8(ish): After dinner, I finish any tasks, like homework, that need to be done.

9(ish): Take a shower and change into pajamas. Brush my teeth, wash my face, and braid my hair.

9:45: Get into bed. Spend time reading the Bible and praying.

10:05: Watch something on Netflix or YouTube, journal, or read. What I do at this time changes every night.

10:30(ish): Turn off my lights, put on hand lotion, and fall asleep.

*Note: This is following my routine pre-pandemic when I would attend school and activities as normal.

**Note: The grammar in the following list is not intended to be perfect because the purpose of the schedule is to make a list of things that I do. When making a schedule or writing down a routine in a journal entry, people often take brief notes, rather than having correct grammar, punctuation, and structure.
