When time goes by,
And mysteries fly,
There’s no one around,
There is no sound.
You wish you were there,
But you’re in despair,
To discover that you can not go.
People walk, people run,
But you are the only one sitting out of the sun.
People are pitiful,
People stare,
But in your world,
There’s nothing but despair.
You want to be happy,
You wish to be free
So you go to St. Miles’
For some clues to be.
Then Miles says:
“For you to be happy, for you to be free
The deed you must do is a mystery to me.
But there is one thing that you can do
To get rid of your loneliness; it’s a potion you must brew.
“To brew this potion, you must collect
Things from the world that are hard to get.
It is a quest
For those who aren’t free
For this is not something that’s easy for thee.
“1 Purple mango seed,
2 cups of rye,
6 packs of blueberry seeds
And 1 pinch of pi.”
So then you think hard,
With all your might
Of where to find
Such things with those names
Like 1 purple mango seed,
Or something called of pi.
Then you scare all the bluebirds,
Gasping “Aha, this is where I should find it.”
You travel the streets, you walk and smile,
Because you now know the answer after a while.
Discussion Questions
